Okay, it has been a while since I last updated on the lamp/sculpture project I am working on. I haven't forgot about it, but I just couldn't figure out how to proceed. And well, today I pulled a string from my sweater and got the idea to use that. I really needed something to get me going with the project, and I think that might be it.
So I dragged the string through the wooden cubes and I started to glue them together now. When they are all done, I think I am going to glue some metal wire to the cubes and cover them with liquid latex so they will look like veins. I still need to figure out a way to make the actual "fruit", but only time will tell how that goes.
These are some pictures of the process from today

Work in progress: movie prop
At the moment I am writing on a new script for a shortmovie and started on making a prop for the movie today. This hand i made by smearing liquid latex on my own arm to make a "print" and then filling this with cotton. It still needs some work before it's done, but so far I am pleased with the result.

Lamp/Sculpture Project - Part III
Today I drilled holes in the cubes and painted the smaller ones with a dark paint (I am still not sure if I am going to paint the big ones too, and if I want to paint small patternes on them). At this point I am not really that happy with the overall aesthetic look of the cubes, so I might go and change them later on.
Today I also began on the organ for the sculpture. I poured liquid latex on a plastic sheet and waiting for it to dry.
In this post you can also see my original drawing/sketch of the sculpture.

Lamp/Sculpture Project - Part II
I softned the corners of the wood cubes and smoothed out the surface of the cubes the other day. At this moment I am not sure if they are curved enough or I want them to be more ellipse-formed. I got spares so I can experiment with different styles, so only time will show how they end up. I also started to think about painting the cubes black and then draw patternes with white/red/blue/yellow paint on them.

Lamp/Sculpture Project - Part I
Over the last couple of weeks I have been drawing and planing to make a sculpture (and maybe even turning it into a lamp). I have been sketching some of the ideas and today I started to collect some of the materials I need.
I got my hands on some wood beams that I cut into smaller cubes today and right now they are drying before I will start cutting patternes in to them.
I want to make the sculpture/lamp look like a fruit mixed with a human organ hanging from a human spine. But I am still not sure where it will go, but let's see.
(I hope to post some of the sketches later)
